The "You"sefulness of Youtube and The Flickring Out of Flickr

Please understand that the above video is meant to be humorous and in no way is intended to promote drug use. It's a video we watched in school in a class about drugs. In fact, YouTube is used frequently in my classes to demonstrate visually a concept that might be hard to express with stationery images. You can learn a great deal from YouTube including how to paint walls, frame cross-stitch and what the Water Fall Effect is. However, Most of what is on YouTube exists purely for entertainment (Dysenchanted), even they can tell you something about the world.

Flickr on the other hand doesn't seem to hold any appeal. I was thinking about what people use it for and found that I am already using alternate ways of doing those same things. I can store photos on USBs, I can share them with my friends via email or Facebook and if I want to share it with the general public I can find a related blog to post it on. Flickr may let you do all these things in the same place and so it may be good for people who don't use many online resources, for the rest of us though Flickr needs to flickr out.
