To Tweet or Not to Tweet.

I did log on to the CPL twitter account when it first was built. That's all. I refuse to do any more based on principle. Tweeting is for famous people who think too much of themselves and fans who also think too much of them. Even though our library pages have decent info nobody knows about them and so they are not looked at. :@

The Absence of a Grove Thing in Library Thing.

Library thing was not at all what I was expecting. From its name I was expecting a colorful blog full of information. What I found was a disappointment. It is a drab, dreary collection of non user friendly misinformation. I don't think it's worth saying any more about.

Productivity makes me howl!

Google Docs is very similar in setup to the Microsoft Office products that we are familiar with. While including less options, the main bulk of what would normally be used is present. This particular assignment gave me the push I needed to explore a few productivity tools that I had been considering as potentially useful. Of the things I tried Google Docs made the biggest impression. I fear that I might lose my bitter edge about this project based on this assignment.

The great things about is are:
1. It's completely compatible with the Microsoft Suite.
2. You can save the documents directly on the Internet, making them accessible from any computer.
3. It's free.
I'm very impressed with this product and fully plan to continue using it. It is way better than open office which doesn't offer the no download and accessible functions.

The "You"sefulness of Youtube and The Flickring Out of Flickr

Please understand that the above video is meant to be humorous and in no way is intended to promote drug use. It's a video we watched in school in a class about drugs. In fact, YouTube is used frequently in my classes to demonstrate visually a concept that might be hard to express with stationery images. You can learn a great deal from YouTube including how to paint walls, frame cross-stitch and what the Water Fall Effect is. However, Most of what is on YouTube exists purely for entertainment (Dysenchanted), even they can tell you something about the world.

Flickr on the other hand doesn't seem to hold any appeal. I was thinking about what people use it for and found that I am already using alternate ways of doing those same things. I can store photos on USBs, I can share them with my friends via email or Facebook and if I want to share it with the general public I can find a related blog to post it on. Flickr may let you do all these things in the same place and so it may be good for people who don't use many online resources, for the rest of us though Flickr needs to flickr out.
